A potluck tamale and a whole chicken??

I don't want to become an overblogger but I had an unforgettable experience in Sun Valley last weekend with my family that is worth blogging about. Just some background. My brother Adam served his mission in Peru and my other brother Mike served in Bolivia. It's no secret that they are partial to the delectable tastes of South America. Lucky for the rest of us, there was a lovely peruvian restaurant right on Main Street. As we walked into the restaurant, there were 4 tables, full of fellow peruvians. My brothers were in their glory, bustin out their spanish skills. We seated ourselves and waited for the 2 menus to get to us. That's right people, TWO total menus in the whole restaurant.

Brooke and I decided we would each get a pork tamale since that was the only thing on the menu that we understood and then we decided to share some sort of a chicken plate that specified it being a breast. After 45 minutes of waiting and nibbling on some sort of a peanut that gave you serious cotton mouth, we finally ordered and our tamales were brought out shortly after. As I began cutting, I was finding any pork at the front end so I started at the back. What followed was probably the grossest thing I ever tasted. What I thought was some form of pork turned out to be a south american olive which honestly made me throw up a little in my mouth. I also found little bits of an egg that was a delightful surprise.

After another 45 minutes of waiting for our chicken breast, it arrived. It draped over the plate like nothing I have ever witnessed and this was no breast, it was the whole chicken. I could have fed a small peruvian family with what was on that plate. The look on my dad's face was priceless. Needless to say, we ate a small portion and bailed. I don't need to ever go back again. Ads and Mike, you are solo on your next run when your pallets are craving papa la juankyina.

Poor guy....

The victim will remain nameless but sorry, those are some tight pants!

So.... since everyone and their dog has a blog these days, I thought to myself, if I had a blog, what would I talk about?? I'm not married, I don't have any children that I can post pictures of and I don't feel like I can be as witty as some of my fellow bloggers. And then I got thinking, between my crew of single girls, we have sooo many funny things happen to us. From the guys we date, to the random things to we do entertain ourselves, we are all livin the single dream, if you catch my drift. With that said, welcome the adventures of Alli and Liz ! Hope you find it entertaining enough to come back often! Peace out.
